JAKHI’S FULL STATEMENT:

“Hi everyone! I hope your days are going well and you’re managing to stay warm. I want to send a message about next Tuesday, but first I’d like to thank you for the love and support that has been shown to me. It has been received with all of my heart. Thank you everyone that has sent me letters and emails, hosted events in solidarity with me and other prisoners, painted murals, hung banners, and distributed my words. From the US to Mexico to France, I have seen it all. I hope to one day repay it back to each and every one of you.

Next Tuesday, October 28th, I will have two court hearings—One for an arrest at an anti-ICE protest and the other for misdemeanor charges connected to an alleged vandalism at Columbia University. Also on that day, Tarek Bazrouk will be getting sentenced after pleading to a federal hate crime charge for punching some Zionist losers. He is facing five years in federal prison, on top of a $250,000 fine and the months that he’s already been in the horrific MDC jail—The same place that Jamel Floyd was murdered after being assaulted by COs. The difference between our cases on this day is obvious. My ability to be at home with my family, while Tarek and all the inmates at MDC are isolated behind those jail walls is something that I think about every day.

On October 28th, please send all your love and support to Tarek. Pack his court and show our solidarity in numbers. Practice safe security with your electronic devices, mask up inside the courtroom (there is no prisoner solidarity without disability work), and give space and respect to Tarek and his family no matter the outcome.

Sincerely, Jakhi

Free Tarek. Free Casey. Free Mahmoud Al-Muhtadi. Free all PalAction prisoners in the dungenous of the UK. Free Leqaa and all those in barbaric ICE detention facilities. Free all New Afrikan prisoners. Free Palestine.”
